The Standard for Cruelty-Free Fashion

Cruelty-Free,
Clearly Rated.

Every piece scored against a published rubric. Materials verified, testing ruled out, sourcing traced. You can read the entire method, and you can tell us where we are wrong.

How the score works

Two things earn a brand our animal-materials tag. Everything else is earned, point by point, against criteria we publish in full.

Two gates, and a tag

Any animal-derived material in the current range, or animal testing anywhere in the supply chain, and the brand carries a brown “Sells animal materials” tag. It is listed after every brand that clears both gates, whatever it scores, and it never reaches the badge.

A hundred-point rubric

Materials evidence, testing assurance, traceability, independent verification. Each weighted by how much it proves a claim is real rather than well written.

85 points, and an audit

The Good badge needs both gates clear, 85 or above, and a completed evidence review on file. All three. A badge everyone gets is not a badge.

Why we exist

Fashion is one of the largest users of animals on earth, and almost none of it appears on a label in language a shopper can act on. Shearling, nubuck, mohair, nacre: the words are doing work, and most of that work is concealment.

Fashion Without Cruelty exists to make that legible. Not with slogans, and not by asking you to feel bad in a changing room, but with a published method, a number, and the reasoning underneath it.

We are independent. Verification fees pay for an audit, never for an outcome, and we refuse the badge more often than we grant it. That refusal is the product.
