1. These terms
This site is operated by Fashion Without Cruelty Ltd. By using it you accept these terms. If you don’t accept them, please don’t use the site.
2. What this site is
Fashion Without Cruelty is an independent editorial directory. We assess fashion products and brands against a published standard and publish the results. Our ratings are our informed opinion, formed from evidence, using the method set out on our standard page.
We are not a retailer. We don’t sell products, hold stock, take payment for orders, or handle returns. When you buy something you’re contracting with that retailer, on their terms, and any consumer rights you have are against them.
3. Ratings and the Good badge
A rating reflects the evidence available to us on the date it was published. Brands change their ranges, suppliers and policies, sometimes without announcement. We review badges at least annually and immediately when we become aware of a material change, but between reviews a rating may become out of date.
The Good badge means a brand cleared both gates, scored 85 or above on our rubric, and completed an evidence audit. It is a narrow claim about animal welfare. It is not a sustainability rating, a labour standards certification, or a guarantee of product quality.
We license the Good badge to verified brands under a separate written agreement. Use of the badge by any brand that does not hold a current licence is unauthorised, and we will act to stop it.
If you believe a rating is wrong, tell us at hello@fashionwithoutcruelty.co.uk. We investigate every challenge and publish corrections where we got it wrong.
4. Affiliate links
Some links to retailers earn us commission. These carry an “Ad” label, and are explained in full in our affiliate disclosure. Commission never affects a score or the award of a badge.
5. Third-party sites
We link to brands and retailers we don’t control. We’re not responsible for their content, their products, their privacy practices or your dealings with them. A link is not an endorsement of anything beyond the rating we’ve published.
6. Our content
The content of this site, meaning our ratings, rubric, written articles, design and the Good badge mark, belongs to us or our licensors. You may read it, share links to it, and quote short extracts with attribution and a link. You may not republish it wholesale, scrape it systematically, or use our badge mark without a licence.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the site unlawfully, or to break someone else’s rights
- submit false information through our forms, including brand applications
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its systems
- scrape, harvest or bulk-download content without written permission
8. Availability
We try to keep the site up, but we don’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it without notice.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
Subject to that, we’re not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on a rating, from a purchase you make from a third-party retailer, or from the site being unavailable. Our ratings are provided to inform your decision, not to replace it.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. The effective date above tells you when they last changed; continuing to use the site after that means you accept the revised version.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
