How we know

Assessed

Desk research, 24 September 2026. Native’s FAQ says “Not a single hair nor hide on any animal, anywhere, has been used in the creation of our product”, and the product pages we checked bear it out. It names where its key materials come from: its Sugarlite foam is Braskem’s bio-based EVA, and some soles are Vibram Ecostep. Its PETA-Approved Vegan certification has reportedly lapsed (March 2024). There is no testing declaration, product pages leave out linings and insoles, and factories are named only by country. Its take-back scheme covers the US and Canada, and so does its claimed science-based target. Neither helps a UK buyer yet.

Sources

Every source we relied on, checked on . Pages change: if one of these now says something different, tell us and we will re-check.

  1. FAQ: “not a single hair nor hide”, factories, warranty
  2. Braskem: Sugarlite bio-based EVA (23 March 2022)
  3. Materials with purpose
  4. The Remix Project: US and Canada only
  5. Climate: targets and footprint (undated)
  6. Get It Vegan: PETA certification lapsed

Questions people ask about Native Shoes

Is Native Shoes vegan?
On the published evidence we reviewed, we found no animal-derived materials in Native Shoes's current range. The brand has also confirmed it in writing.
Does Native Shoes test on animals?
We found no evidence that it does. It has not yet given us a signed no-testing declaration, so we cannot confirm it either.
What is Native Shoes's Fashion Without Cruelty score?
15 of 100, assessed from published evidence. 85 or more, with both gates clear and an evidence audit on file, earns the Good badge; 40 of the points still open depend on evidence only the brand can give.
Can Native Shoes earn the Good badge?
Yes, if it reaches 85 points and completes an evidence audit with us. Published evidence alone takes a brand to about 55.
