How the score breaks down
How we know
Desk research, 10 October 2026. Every piece in the range, 34 garments, is GOTS organic cotton sewn with cotton thread, with corozo-nut buttons and natural-rubber waistbands, and every product page says so: “No plastic in the garment, thread or label.” We found no animal material anywhere. The brand names its two suppliers, KPR Mill (yarn and fabric, Tamil Nadu) and Gokul Knitt Fabs (garments, Tirupur), and traces its cotton to KPR’s GOTS-certified yarn. It takes back any of its pieces, at any age, to recycle or compost. What it does not publish: any statement about animals at all, a testing declaration, or a GOTS licence number we could check in the register, so GOTS earns nothing here yet. Its pass rests on what it makes, not on a written policy.

Questions people ask about Plainandsimple
- Is Plainandsimple vegan?
- On the published evidence we reviewed, we found no animal-derived materials in Plainandsimple's current range. The brand has not yet confirmed that in writing, which is one of the things an audit asks for.
- Does Plainandsimple test on animals?
- We found no evidence that it does. It has not yet given us a signed no-testing declaration, so we cannot confirm it either.
- What is Plainandsimple's Fashion Without Cruelty score?
- 33 of 100, assessed from published evidence. 85 or more, with both gates clear and an evidence audit on file, earns the Good badge; 35 of the points still open depend on evidence only the brand can give.
- Can Plainandsimple earn the Good badge?
- Yes, if it reaches 85 points and completes an evidence audit with us. Published evidence alone takes a brand to about 55.
